I’m kicking off HaikuWithTeeth.com again. The site hasn’t been active for over 15 years now. All it was was a simple one-page website where a user could put in sentences and the system would count the number of syllables. If the user had 5-7-5 the system would come back and say yes this is a haiku! If there were words that it didn’t recognize it would prompt the user to add them to the database. This is where I ran in to trouble. I use the best user input sanitizing routines at the time… I didn’t have any PII on the server and you didn’t have to register for anything. So they just got into the database and just started spamming it with hundreds if not thousands of links to at the time casino sites.
