So lately I’ve been catching up on some TV shows that everyone was talking about a while ago and honestly it’s pretty great to watch them now instead of when they first came out.
The two main shows I’ve been watching are “Slow Horses” and “Silo” and they’re both really good but in totally different ways. “Slow Horses” is about these British spies but they’re not like James Bond or anything cool like that, they’re actually spies who messed up really bad at their jobs and got sent to this crummy office called Slough House where nobody wants to be. The main guy Jackson Lamb is played by Gary Oldman and he’s so gross and rude and drinks a lot and farts all the time but somehow he’s also really smart and you end up liking him even though he’s mean to everyone. The show is funny sometimes but also has lots of suspense and action and people actually die which is intense.
The other show is “Silo” and I was ignoring this one since I read the book and didn’t want it poisoning my thoughts on it. However, I’m very surprised at how good it is. It’s completely different from ‘Slow Horses’ because it’s about the future where everyone lives underground in this huge building called a silo and nobody knows why they’re there or what happened to the outside world.
Rebecca Ferguson plays the main character and she starts asking questions that you’re not supposed to ask and gets in a lot of trouble for it. It’s really mysterious and every episode you learn a little more but there’s still so many secrets. The cool thing about watching these shows late is that you don’t have to wait a whole week between episodes like people did when they first came out. I can BINGE up to 5 episodes without food or water. 🙂 I hate waiting so being able to just watch the next episode right away is awesome. Also you don’t have to wait like a year between seasons which would drive me crazy.
I think watching a bunch of episodes in a row actually makes the shows better because you remember everything that happened and you can see how all the pieces fit together. When you wait a week you probably forget stuff and miss things that are important. I really like how “Slow Horses” makes spies seem like regular people who make mistakes and “Silo” makes you think about what you would do if humanity makes a huge mistake.
